Cover Letter regarding: Application for Special Needs Program Staff

My name is Melissa Viera and I attend California State University Long Beach where I am pursing a bachelor’s degree in health science with an emphasis in community health. My ultimate goal is to become a pediatric occupational therapist. I have a passion for helping others and I’m excited to have that be a part of my future career.

The YMCA is known for providing the foundation for a healthy spirit, body, and mind for youth and parents wanting to strengthen and improve themselves and their development. The Inclusion Program takes it a step further and focuses on behavior and skills sets to allow for children with disabilities to thrive. Everyone deserves to live long, and healthy lives and I would love to be a part of an organization that makes that possible. I am currently taking part as an intern that involves implementing a health education program to Hispanic families of low income and teaching them proper nutrition and physical activity. Children specifically, need support and resources to thrive and it’s very rewarding to see them get there and to have those opportunities available for them .

Throughout my educational career, I have learned how to create health education programs with others that will aid in increasing the overall health of a target population. This includes implementing activities and educational materials for participants. I have been able to maintain effective work relationships and strengthen my communication skills. The skills I’ve learned throughout my education has allowed me to do what I want to do and that is to help people.

I have attached a copy of my resume. I look forward to hearing from you about this job.
