Area VII.Communicate, Promote, and Advocate for Health, Health Education/Promotion, and the Profession

This responsibility requires health educators to prioritize health information for advocacy purposes. This may include creating advocacy place and influencing policies.

Marketing Strategies

Flyer

The flyers will be used as our main source of recruitment to recruit participants for our focus groups and video screenings. The flyers will be made and distributed once the video is ready to be shown to the public. They will be distributed to recruit participants from all different backgrounds such as college students, health educators, etc. This will give us an array of diverse opinions and perspectives from the participants that we can utilize into our program. In order to recruit a variety of different people to participate, flyers will be distributed by volunteers of our program to different community forums within Long Beach as well as health clinics and school campuses, primarily targeting students of CSULB.

The audience for the flyers is inclusive so the design of the flyers will target everybody. The flyer will be a way to ask the community for help and making it into a community effort. It will state the issue of HIV in Long Beach as many of its residents have no idea how bad of a problem it has gotten to be. However, it will also state that something can be done to reduce the problem and that’s where we come in.

Social Media Ad

For the Social Media Ad, the main focus will be the promotion of the video and signing our petition. It is necessary to reduce the stigma behind HIV in order to motivate people to get treatment, as well as spark attention in the community, that will in turn influence them to sign the petition. The Ad will include engaging information that will spark the audience’s attention. It will give a brief description of the campaigns mission, goals, and objectives. It will also include why everyone is needed to make a change.

The Ad will be shared among many different types of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. The Ad will first be posted on the campaigns main website with the link to the video and a link to the petition. It is important to contact people from different websites such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Public Health Association, HIV.gov, National Institute of Health, and the Mayo clinic, in order to convince them to share or post the ad on their website. This would attract people who could be looking for help on HIV, or anyone who just stumbles upon it and is intrigued. The Social Media Ad will influence an increase in people that will be motivated to watch the video and sign the petition.
